Dopper strives towards a world where people live consciously and sustainable. The main goal of Dopper® is to reduce single-use plastic waste and to create an environment where everybody has access to save drinking water. This is the reason Dopper® designed a sustainable bottle to encourage the drinking of tap water. 5% of Dopper’s sales volume goes to the Dopper Foundation. The foundation funds water and sanitation projects in Nepal.
The trademark, copyrights and design rights of the Dopper® bottle are being protected and monitored by de Merkplaats®
A Hungarian party marketed a re-usable lookalike Dopper® waterbottle. The difference between the Hungarian version and the Dopper® version was hardly visible for the average consumer. That made the likelihood of confusion possible, where the Hungarian party could benefit from.
The lawyers at de Merkplaats® made clear that Dopper® owns the copyrights and model rights on the waterbottle. The lawyers summoned the Hungarian party to stop the infringement. As a result the bottle was removed from the market and Dopper® obtained financial compensation of the legal costs that were made. A desired outcome without any lawsuits and costs for our client!
