Privacy statement

Privacy declaration
On May 25, 2018, the new privacy law, the AVG (General Data Protection Regulation) or GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), entered into force throughout the European Union. This law places higher demands on organizations that want to do something with personal data and ensures that people have more control over their own data.

Your privacy is of great importance to the Merkplaats. We would therefore like to inform you about the way we handle the collection of information from the visitors to our website or when you contact us by telephone, e-mail or simply at our door. It is important to mention that your data has always been in good hands with us, wherever we protect the rights of trademarks, designs and copyrights. Confidentiality has been our starting point since the establishment of the Merkplaats in 2000.

Where is the data stored and why?

Personal data is collected for a number of purposes. Firstly, your data is collected when you contact us; by phone, e-mail, at the door or via a business card while networking. This concerns data such as name, company name, e-mail address and telephone number. We use this information for the next time that you contact us. For example, our device can recognize the number and we can serve you faster and better. No physical copies are made of your personal data.

Secondly, your first name and e-mail address are collected to send the newsletters. With the newsletters we would like to share with you what we are doing at the Merkplaats at that time and what concerns our clients. On the other hand, we like to share knowledge and news in the field of Intellectual Property. We would like to share with you what we are doing and are allowed to send business newsletters according to the GDPR, but if you do not want that, it is possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter with a simple click. The newsletters are sent with MailChimp®.

How long will the data be kept?

We keep your data for as long as necessary to perform our services and activities. Naturally, we need information when, for example, trademark rights threaten to expire after a period of ten years. That is why it is very important that we know where to find our clients. Therefore always send your most recent data, even if you move house, for example.

What are my rights with regard to my data?

Firstly, you always have the right to inspect the data stored by us. For this you can send an e-mail to info@demerkplaats.nl. If the data is incorrect or incomplete, you are entitled to correction. You also have the right to transfer or stop the use of your personal data.

Do you have any questions? Feel free to contact us via info@demerkplaats.nl or 020 330 66 10.

Good luck and protection.
